Question: According to Judaism, did Moses see God or only His back?
As per. the Bible; God showed Himself to Moses to a limited degree!
As He passed Moses who was in the cleft of the rock, He shielded Moses so that he would not see His Face!
This direct encounter with Almighty God and Moses, establishes and re-establishes some of the dealings and Covenant relationship with the Jews and God (see all of Exodus Chps. 33–34)
It is of great interest that in the New testament, Jesus “Transfigures” in Matt.17; Mark 9 and Luke 9; which shows the great importance of the two men with Him; Moses and Elijah; who are considered the main candidates for the “two Witnesses” of Revelation Chp.11!
