Question:
What were the main duties of the true prophet? And in which book in the Bible or Chapter?
Matt. 24:15 “So when you see standing in the holy place” ‘the abomination that causes desolation’, spoken of through the prophet Daniel!
It is easy to see that the prophet Daniel was referred to by Jesus; because he spoke the truth about the future of Jerusalem etc.
Jesus also referred to other prophets, such as Isaiah; and it is easy to determine that which is authentic!
There is however a warning to false prophets in Jeremiah 23:9–40, and elsewhere:
In the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 7:15–20), Jesus warns His followers of false prophets: Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thorns, or figs from thistles?
