N E P H I L I M
Nephilim were of large stature, 13' or more tall, and a tomb size is shown in Deut. 3:11 (approx. 14' or 4·5m), and testified in Deut. 3:13, i.e. "the land of the giants" (translated as “Raphaim”). The certain fact that the Old Testament Nephilim had spread from Babylon is shown by the tombs of the Marduk kings in Babylon, which were of the same size as Deut. 3:11. It is an interesting fact that large skeletal remains have been discovered on almost every Continent, including recently Australia.
NOTE OCTOBER 2018:
The Smithsonian Institute was subject to a Supreme Court action in 2014, that ruled in 2015 that documentation of the destruction of thousands of Ancient humanoid giant skeletal remains in the 1800s be “declassified”. The destructive actions were “apparently” taken, to not conflict with the new Evolution “Theory” of Charles Darwin, and others. The age of the remains is so destructive of Darwin’s theory embodied in his book “Origins of Species”, that Governments and Scientific Authorities conspire to “Deny and Destroy” the conflicting evident at the time. They have since denied their destructive actions; but are now not believed by the world’s educated populous.
Their actions are made worse by the many further finds of very Ancient giant humanoid fossils on all Continents, including recently Australia!
It is theorised that the existence and spread of the first eruption of Nephilim was during the time prior to "Continental Drift", and that the "Drift" when it happened, was much quicker than previously thought.
Gen. 1:9-10 shows the world at the "Gondwana and Pangea" stage, and was first commented on by Antonio Snider in AD1859. Science now thinks that 'Continental Drift' was initially at a much faster rate than presently recorded (1"-3"/ year); and initially was possibly at "a man's walking pace". It is estimated that 'Drift' started approx. between 500 - 180 million years ago, and for that reason fossil remains are similar world-wide on the Continents.
However, whilst the Old Testament Nephilim eruption is Biblical (Gen. 6:4), and therefore to be trusted; the idea of earlier eruptions is theoretical at this stage of our knowledge; but carries considerable probability, see below “Genesis 1:1 Enigma”.
However; as it is quite likely that the speculated a much earlier angelic rebellion had occurred, possibly explaining the Genesis 1:1 Enigma (see: The Genesis 1:1 Enigma); and a much older Nephilim (giant population on Earth), could therefore be before Continental Drift! (See: Old Strange Relics Ignored by Science: (By Dr. J.R. Jochmans, Litt.D.)).
Babylon as is well known was founded by Nimrod, whose father was Cush and Grandfather Ham! Nimrod was "great in rebellion against God" Gen. 10:9, (the standard translation in the AV is that he was a mighty hunter "before the Lord", but on examination of the word "before", and its use in Gen. 6:11(corrupt before God), this is quite possibly the wrong translation in the A.V. When considering the record of Nimrod and his mother, and also remembering their role in Babylon and the tower of Babel, the favourable A.V. translation does not fit the context of his life). Babylon became the fountainhead of Satanic opposition to Jehovah God, until its destruction, and the removal of its priests to Pergamos (Anatolia; modern day Turkey).
Canaan was the son of Ham and uncle to Nimrod [Gen. 10:6], and his purpose was to thwart the Messiah line from Genesis (Gen. 3:15).
It was inevitable that the Nephilim/giants would resist the children of Israel (Jacob), when they started their conquest of "the Promised Land", as the Nephilim were part of the plan of Satan to resist the curse imposed upon him of Gen. 3:15. By that time the Nephilim had blended into other tribes and peoples in the "Promised Land" and a thorough mix had been established, (see: Gen.15:19-21, Ex. 3:8-17, 23:23, Deut. 7, Deut. 2, Deut. 20:17, Josh. 10 & Josh. 12:8).
In the above references, the names of the Nephilim are; Rephaim, Emim, Kenites, Kenizzites, Kadomites, Hittites, Perizzites, Amorites, Girgashites, Jebusites, Anakim and Zamzummins.
For that reason Jehovah forbad Israel any inter-marriage with the Canaanite tribes, as the line of the Messiah had to be pure from Adam, through Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob & Judah; through to Mary, Josephs' wife; ensuring the unsullied seed line to the prophesied Messiah King; and the defeat of Satan and all sin, (Luke 23:38); so that the "seed of the woman" would be as prophecy (Gen. 3:15).
The birth of Jesus was of the pure line of Judah, and all the prophecies in the Old Testament regarding His place of Birth, and His suffering and death were fulfilled.
His Resurrection and Ascension, auger the fulfilment of the prophecies and His Second Advent will complete the prophecy; which many people think will be soon, when considering the events of the mid-East, and the world initiated on 7/10/23!
Nephilim are the fruit of "the sons of God", or fallen angels (Gen. 6:4) (Rev. 12:4 & 9) which have mated with "the daughters of men", (Gen. 6:2), and had they succeeded in spreading their seed totally in men/Israel, the promise of Messiah (Gen. 3:15) could not have happened, and Satan would have had the victory.
There is much debate and varied opinion, as to whether the resultant Nephilim/giants are of "sons of God", or fallen angels. The Interlinear Hebrew uses the word "God" in the delegated sense [Strongs 430], which should be spelt with a small g (god), which can mean an "authority" lower than Elohim [God], which brings in to play; angel, created being. However, if Strongs is correct it means plural gods, and that would argue for "angels", and as Scripture says in Jude 6 and Rev. 12:4, many angels have fallen, which is stated as "leaving their first Estate"; and they are "reserved to Judgement", (2Peter 2:4).
Dr. Bullinger is clear; “all sons of God are created beings by God alone (see: Job 1 & 2)”; therefore Adam and Satan are in that category; with Satan as the “most magnificent”! (See: App. 23 and 25 Companion Bible) & Satan's Contest with God).
It is interesting to note that the PshittA translates (Gen. 6:2), "the sons of God looked upon the daughters of human beings", which states clearly that they were not human and gives credence to the "angel" argument. It is argued by some including Dr. Schofield that the Gen. 6:2 reference is not to angels but to the line of Cain, however, Gen. 4:1 states clearly that Cain was the son of Adam and Eve, and that he was "from the Lord"! Schofield uses the reference in Isa. 43:6 to justify that thought, but Isa. 43:6 in context refers to redeemed Israel.
A further argument is used that angels are spoken of as "sexless", and Matt. 22:30 is used as justification. That reference however, is to the "angels of God" that have not left their first Estate, and not followed Satan as per Revelation (12:4). Also; the Lord is referring in this case to “at the resurrection”, which is the context which is the principle that all Scripture understanding needs to follow!
The pro-creation function seems to possibly have been brought into Satan’s sphere of influence, due to the fall of Eve and Adam in Eden (see: Eve and Adam). There is the possibility that part of the ‘Fall’ of some angels involved them obtaining reproductive status; as prior to the Fall of Eve and Adam in Eden, God had stated to them: “replenish the Earth” (Gen. 1:28); which implies ‘renewed population’; and was part of Satan’s offer to them to “leave their first estate” (i.e. their God given position)! This thought would chime with Matt. 22:30. However, the writers feel at this stage that the understanding between God and Satan was already in place prior to this event, as part of God's Rules of Engagement; with Satan!
Also; at the Fall of Eve and Adam; Satan was the “god of this world”; “The Prince of the Power of the Air”, (2Cor. 4:4; John 14:30 & John 12:31). Satan however is not content with his present status; and knows that God Almighty is to deal with him as part of “the Mystery of Iniquity” (2Thess. 2:7)! Therefore Satan must void the promise of God to Israel, that they will always exist; (Jer. 31:35-37, Romans 11:26-27 & Jer. 33:24-26)!
The fallen angels had in this concept taken their male status (all angels are referred to as male) to Earthly realm and procreated, which was within their free-will, as is also their free-will to follow Satan and give him their allegiance. There is no mention in the whole of Scripture of female angels, and the reason for that is solely in the domain of Almighty God.
There is only One Creator God, (see Strongs 410 and 433!). The Interlinear Hebrew for "the son" (Strongs 1121) (BEN) is the word "family builder", which implies just that possibility in these "sons of God", if they had not been resisted on the specific orders of Almighty God to Saul, David, and Joshua, to slay them!
The evidence of many Scripture passages using the word for "sons" or "angels", such as Job 1:6, 2:1, 38:7, Psm. 89:6 & Dan. 3:25, points to the conclusion that the two expressions can mean the same thing.
However, the result is evil. Therefore is not of the Will of Almighty God, but does show the fact of the free-will of the created beings, whether called "sons" or "angels". We know from Revelation (Rev. 12:4) that one third of all angels follow Satan, and have/will be converted to him. These are in the future description of the events relating to the last Satanic turmoil in this Age time on Earth prior to the Second Advent of Christ. The "angels" which perpetrated the resultant Nephilim, are probably those described in 1Peter 3:19-20, and Jude 6, and possibly those of an earlier rebellion, prior to this present Creation.
Some people surmise that demonic activity on Earth are the result of that possible earlier rebellion, however, that is speculation. The fact is that demonic spirits and activity are evident on Earth, as is shown in Our Lord's dealing with them and also His disciples and the Apostle Paul. However, nobody is sure as to their origin, except that they must be linked to Satan; as they will be cleared off the Earth just prior to God's Kingdom on Earth (Zech. 13:2)!
The fallen angels were not led by the Holy Spirit in their act of procreation but by the spirit of the Enemy of God, Satan, (indicating the fact of their free-will). That is in contrast to Rom. 8:14, which confirms that those led by the Holy Spirit ("Spirit of God"), become "the sons of God"; so that God in Christ has created a pathway contrary to that of the fallen sons of Gen. 6; which allows fallen human beings to become "sons of God", (Jn. 1:12) (Rom. 8:4 & 19) (Phil. 2:15) & (1Jn. 3:1 & 2), by their own will, in the acceptance of Christ, as Saviour.
Genesis 6:4 shows clearly that after the flood destroyed all the Nephilim infiltrated humans, leaving Noah and his family only (Gen. 6:9); however, there was at a later date a further eruption of Nephilim "and also after the flood" (Gen. 6:4). These are described in detail in Num. 13:33, and in the book of Joshua. It is notable that on a number of occasions the Divinely ordered task of annihilating the Nephilim was not completed i.e. Joshua 11:22, 13:13, 16:10, 17:12 and elsewhere. That the task was possibly never completed is implicit in the renewed warning to Israel regarding the forbidding of intermarriage with the local tribes (Josh. 23).
It is almost certain that both Saul and King David also did not eradicate Nephilim, as both failed to obey the commands of Jehovah; although David's heart was directed correctly, as Scripture records he slew Goliath (a Nephilim), which is probably symbolic and prophetic regarding "The Son of David's" action when He (Christ) returns to Earth. (See: Nazarite Vow;).
Whether or not physical Nephilim survive until this day in smaller form is unknown, and impossible to determine. However, when we recognise that the Nephilim purpose was to thwart Jehovah's plan of Salvation for Israel and the world, the fact that "great David's greater Son" "the Second Adam", Christ, has appeared, died the death of the cross (Gal. 3:13), and risen, shows the utter failure of Satan's plan in the physical Nephilim.
We know now that in this Age (of Grace), the battle is spiritual (Eph. 6:12). Those who truly wish to embrace God and Redemption can only do so through Christ (Acts 4:12), and that through faith only (Gal. 2:20) & (Gal. 3). The Nephilim were/are the Satanically inspired fruit of fallen beings, attempting to thwart the physical birth of Christ/Messiah; and if still on Earth, attempting to thwart the “New man” i.e; “The Mystery Body” Eph. 2:15-16).
It should be stated here again that the promise of Redemption in Gen. 3:15 could not have been fulfilled in Christ Jesus, if the Nephilim had succeeded in spreading their seed throughout the Jewish Nation or Gentiles who would be in the Messiah’s Line. "The seed of the woman" of Gen. 3:15 had to be pure through to the Virgin Mary, so that the "Holy Ghost" could "overshadow her" and that "Holy Thing" called the "Son of God" would be born Luke 1:35; who’s blood could be of God the Father alone!
The child Jesus was destined to be the Propitiation of all the Sin of mankind that believe, after His death on the Cross at Calvary and also by His obedience to His Father; Satan’s defeat! He also being Immanuel (Matt. 1:23, God with us), and the Messiah of Israel, whom at present they have rejected.
The current attempt of Satan is twofold,
1) To thwart the spiritual birth of the Body of Christ (Christians true), which Body must be complete prior to the Lord's return, (and during Israel's Lo-Ammi state); which confirms that now is a spiritual warfare, see Ephesians 6! This is of particular importance, as the Nephilim failed to thwart the Birth of Jesus, Satan through his demonic forces is attempting to thwart the completion of "Christ's Mystery Body"! When the Body of Christ Jesus is complete; the "Restrainer will be removed" and the "Anti-Christ" can have his days with his attempt to destroy Israel!
2) To thwart the promises of Jehovah Zebaoth to Israel. To that end spiritual forces are arrayed against mankind (Eph. 6:12) (particularly Gentiles since Acts 28:28, when the Gospel was sent to the Gentiles). These Satanic forces are the equivalent of the physical Nephilim, and at least as deadly.
The Nephilim were/are a mixture of human flesh and Satanic spirit and blood, the influence of Satan's spirits, are described in the Gospels and other parts of the New Testament (Matt. 10:1, Mk. 1:27, Mk. 3:11, 5:13, 6:7, Lk. 4:36, Acts 5:16, 8:7 & Rev. 16:13).
It is a sad fact that people have high regard for wizards, mediums etc. (Acts 8:11 and Acts 8:9-24), but as the Holy Spirit shows in Acts 8:18-24, there is only one way of escape for such people. Therefore, it is incumbent on Christians to be wary of all humans, to attempt to determine their condition, as many are undoubtedly in disguise as innocuous, or are Enemy infiltrators in positions of power both in the world, and Churches (groups) (Christendom).
The last verse of the book of Zechariah (14:21) is conclusive, "there shall be no more The Canaanite in the house of Jehovah Zebaoth". Also, in Zech. 13:2 idols, prophets and unclean spirits are banished (presumably to the same abyss as Satan). This takes place after the return of Christ/Jehovah, and as the Millennial Kingdom is established.
It is considered (Ency. Brit. N. p. 232) that Christ the "Nazarene" is also under a Nazarene/Nazarite vow, yet to be completed when the Canaanite * (see note below) is eliminated.
The Holy Spirit through John is lucid on the Anti-Christ, and particularly 1Jn. 2:18-28, see also (2Thess. 2:3-12) (1Jn. 4:2-3) (1Jn. 4:6) (1Jn. 5:19) & (2Jn. 7), where "the last time" (i.e. this last Age time) is described in detail. In both 1 and 2 John, the conditions described are recognizable now by true Christians. The spirit of Anti-Christ is in every part of human life, and its profanity is evident continually around us, in all media, communications and contact, and unfortunately in false Christian teaching worldwide, which at this date, is accelerating, together with self-deception (which includes individual people in Churches), that deny Acts 4:12 (Salvation is found in non-other than Christ Jesus).
* Note: the word Canaanite has at least two possible meanings 1) “unclean”, 2) “trafficker”; but also used as a euphemism for “Nephilim”! It is notable that the word "Canaanite", derives from the area that the Nephilim occupied, and it is clear that both in physical form and demonic form, they are no longer active when Christ Jesus Returns!
