SIN FORGIVENESS, AND SINNING FORGIVENESS
Question: Are you a new creation in Christ where the old has passed away and the new has come? If you are a new creation why do you continue to sin? “If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves” in 1John 1:8.
Referring first to 1John 1:8; this was penned in approx. AD 55, which was approx. 6–7 years prior to Acts 28:28!
What you may say is the relevance of that? It is the pronouncement of John, repeating what Christ had said during His 1st. Advent; when He spoke only to the “lost sheep of Israel”; Matt. 15:24!
The complete exoneration of Sin in Jesus’s Crucifixion Sacrifice became defacto when Jesus said “it is finished” from the cross, however the Jews denial and rejection of Christ Jesus at Acts 28:25–28, nullified that for the Jews (except for Jews that can see Jesus through the Veil), and the statement was made by the Holy Spirit via Paul; “I go to the Gentiles, they will hear”; Acts 28;28!
The above covers most of your question; however, Jesus showed just before His execution that the sin nature is continually in mankind, and cannot be otherwise until God Almighty removes “ the Curse” Rev. 22:3; so Jesus showed how forgiveness can be forgiven by Him, by letting Him wash the feet of the sinner (regularly)!
When Jesus washes the Disciples' feet, it is a symbolic reminder about His authority to forgive sin (Matthew 9:6, Mark 2:10). The Disciples, just like any of us, were sinful and in need of redemption. Thankfully, Jesus knelt down to show that He is more than willing to wash us clean (Psalm 51:1-12).
