The focus here should not be the great wonder of the ‘vision’ of God’s presence in ‘Essence’, but the context of WHY this action is taking place; as God’s Glorious Presence leaves the Temple in Jerusalem; and has never returned, and will not until the Temple of Ezk. 43!!
In context; (which should always be remembered by all of us in Bible study); in the previous Chapters, Israel (God’s chosen people), are seen to be behaving badly; and blaming God for their actions! This was a recurring theme by them as soon as they were released from Egypt!
Both for the ‘Record’ (the Bible), and also for the punishment on Israel; the “coals” on Jerusalem are to show its coming travail, but to also pre-curser the eventual deliverance by Saviour God’s Mercy of rebellious Israel; in God’s Love for them, despite their continuous bad behaviour; but also so that God’s Word is not broken before Satan! See; Zechariah in particular; but also all the prophets!
The fixation on “the wheels” of the Heavenly Vision in Ezk.10; has always misleadingly focused people’s minds re. the power and mystery shown; (which was a privileged show of God’s Power and Domain) and has been taken up by such people as ‘Van Donegan’, in “Chariot of the God’s”; which mislead people even further!
