The Shepherd and the Sheep

Question:  What does the Shepherd and Sheep symbolize?

Jesus is known as “The Good Shepherd”!

In the Gospel of John, Jesus states "I am The Good Shepherd" in two verses, John 10:11 and 10:14.  I am The Good Shepherd.  The Good Shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.  He who is a hired hand, and not a shepherd, who doesn't own the sheep, sees the wolf coming, leaves the sheep, and flees.

As Jesus is the 2nd. Person of the Godhead, the 1st. Person must also function as Shepherd of the Jews, as the chosen people!

Jesus in His Earthly Ministry, spoke (came) only to the lost sheep of Israel, Matt.15:24!

However, He said also that He had “sheep of another fold”, referring in part to the Gentiles who would accept Him and His sacrifice of love for them on the cross of Calvary!

God’s saving of the Jews will start when the events of Zech.12:10 arrive!
