Temples of Israel

In the 4th year of King Solomon’s rule, he began to build the Temple of the Lord.  From people who know this history, please include some interesting information to share with Quora readers.  So, how high was it, how long and how wide?

Question: Have any of King Solomon’s Kingdom’s ancient ruins, as described in the Bible been found? If so, where ae they located?

Read “The Bible As History” by Keller!

According to the Bible, Solomon's Temple was built on Mount Moriah in Jerusalem, where an angel of God had appeared to David (2Chronicles 3:1).

Other Reports:  King Solomon was reputedly buried in a very large tomb located in the Atlas Mountains in Northwest Africa.  King Solomon's tomb was constructed in the area around the 10th century B.C.  Apart from the remains of King Solomon, the tomb is also reputedly filled with a lot of treasures, and its chambers are gold coated.  Among the items said to be found in the tomb are two brass frogs, each with a different function.

Historical Discovery: The Treasure of the Legendary King Solomon Found by Archaeologists.  The treasure of King Solomon might have been discovered by archaeologists in the Timna desert in Israel.  The region that includes Israel, Jordan, Palestine, and Egypt is rich in testimonies of ancient history.

Today the Temple Mount, a walled compound within the Old City of Jerusalem, is the site of two magnificent structures: the Dome of the Rock to the north and the Al-Aqsa Mosque to the south.  In the southwest stands the Western Wall—a remnant of the Second Temple and the holiest site in Judaism.

The Temple suffered at the hands of Nebuchadnezzar II of Babylonia, who removed the Temple treasures in 604 bce and 597 bce and totally destroyed the building in 587/586.

During the Roman period, in AD 70, the Second Temple was destroyed, along with Jerusalem, by Titus' army.  It was also during this period that Jesus was in Jerusalem.  He was crucified about 40 years before the destruction of the city.

There will be a Third Temple, which will be covered by the  Anti-Christ Matt. 24, and Daniel 9.

After the events surrounding the Third Temple, there will be persecution in Israel (Jacob’s Trouble), and that will lead to the Second Advent of Jesus the Christ, who will for the first time deal in “Power and Great Glory” with the world’s troubles and prejudices regarding Israel and the Jews!

The Fourth Temple will be built to the specification of Ezekiel 40, or the 3rd. Temple will be restored and rededicated to the stipulations of Ezekiel!

The Jews will become “a Kingdom of Priests unto God” on Earth, for the 1000 years of the Rule of Messiah and the Father “and their Name shall be One”, Zech.14:9!

Ezek. 40: 4–49, contain the dimensions of the next, or possibly the 4th. Temple on the ‘Temple Mount’ in Jerusalem.  The one quoted in this Chapter, is to Almighty God’s dimensions, and is 1/7th. larger than the previous!

The next Temple?  Note: There is some dispute and doubt as to whether this is the same Temple as "the Anti-Christ" Temple described by Jesus in the New Testament!  The reasoning is that Jesus referred to "the Holy Place" in Matt. 24:15; which would indicate a Dedicated Temple.  The probability is that it will be a Temple, built by the Jews using the specification shown in Ezek. 40-48, to conform with their religious standing in their Torah!  However; as it is used by the Jews with the permission of the personage known in Scripture as "the man of sin"; ie "the Anti-Christ"; it will not be sanctioned and Blessed by the Almighty; and His “Sheckinah” will not be present!  This means that what the Jews will revere as sacred, (i.e. the holy place), is not so; and will not be until God's Temple is built by The Messiah, and the “Sheckinah” will occupy at that point, Ezk. 43:1-6!

If this thinking is correct, there will be a 3rd Temple, as described above, which will be renewed or destroyed at the end of the Tribulation period; and the 4th Temple will be the Kingdom/Millennial Dwelling of Jehovah God, and His Son Messiah Christ Jesus; and they will Rule the world together; "and their Name shall be One" (Zech. 14:9)!
