No, not IMO, God was jolting Paul to the stage that he would listen!

As regards your question re. this sort of happening today, to me, (and I can only speak for myself here) the answer is I have no verified knowledge!
However, I do believe that when a stage is reached which is ‘critical’ to God’s planning (i.e. end Age events), then all options are possible!
At this stage in time, we have the marvellous “handbook of the Bible” to guide us prayerfully onward!
At the present time, that incredibly item (faith) is exercised, which puts us in the company of the great men and women in Heb.11!
