Oath on the Bible

Question: What does the Bible mean when it says you must not take an oath?  If the Government asks you to take an oath?

There are many versions with people regarding the meaning of this text, an example of an oath to God is below, which is used daily in Courts.  However, the second part (2) of the “oath”, is called the “affirmation”, which most Courts accept!

I swear by Almighty God that the evidence I shall give shall be the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

2) I do solemnly, sincerely and truly declare and affirm that the evidence I shall give shall be the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
