JESUS EXPLAINS HIS MISSION TO ISRAEL

QUESTION: What is the significance of Jesus’s response in John 4:48?

Jesus was speaking to Israel at that time; “I come only to the lost tribe of Israel” Matt. 15:24; which was in the same context as His Affirmation that He came to “confirm and complete” “the Law of Moses”; Matt. 5:17!

The reason Jesus spoke thus, was to remind Israel, especially the Leaders, that Almighty God had led, saved, and won battles for them in their past after they had been released from Egypt, but they had reneged on Him, and not kept their vows to him (see Deuteronomy and Malachi).

Jesus’ Mission in the Flesh, was to die, rise from death, and to witness to it all to His people Israel, and Jesus ordered His Disciples after His resurrection to only go to the Jews to witness initially, Matt.10:5–6!

Had they realized that and become faithful to Him, John the Baptist would have “been as Elijah” (Matt.11:14) and Jesus would have become Messiah to Israel, and the Jews a “kingdom of priest unto God” in the world; but because of their refusal, that condition is now in abeyance until the events of Zech.12:10!

Because they rejected Jesus before Pilate, and later at Acts 28:25–28, confirmed their rejection, their position as Prime Object of God was removed and transferred to the Gentiles!  They were made “Lo-Ammi” (not My people, Rom. 9:24–33); a condition that will stay in place until they acknowledge Jesus at His second Advent (Zech.12:10) which will coincide with the “completion of the Gentile number”, (Rom.11:25–27)!
