Question: How can apologists dismiss YHWH’s claim that he appeared to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob as God Almighty, not an angel, in Exodus 6:3 in favour of ”No one has ever seen God” John 1:18. Was YHWH mistaken about His identity or was John making it up?
This so called ‘conundrum’ is one of my early cul-de-sacs, which gave me taking thought for many years, but which I held in abeyance, with many others, which list got longer for a while.
In my case it reached the stage where I had to either accept God’s Word, or reject it!
I remember well the time and place where I made the prayerful decision; which was in the positive, which then allowed me to continue studying and communicating, albeit in a primitive way! That was approx. 56 years ago.
In my case, that has proved very fruitful, as my trust in Almighty God has given me answers which for me allowed progress!
I realise that all people are different with different backgrounds (nature and nurture); but what is common to all of us is the desire to know God’s Truth, and we cannot deceive ourselves in that endeavour!
The case in point above, is one which we all labour with, but in my case I am satisfied with what has arrived with me over time.
As is so often the case; the question/objection is wrong IMO! God (Who is Almighty) can/does use any form He wishes to carry out all His planning both here and anywhere (beyond our imaginations); but it is still HE WHO IS; which is where our limited faculties are confused!
For example; when He passed by Moses on the Mount, He covered him with (His Hand), to protect Moses from destruction Ex. 33:22!
When He Created, He took on the form of The Christ, as all Creation is by Him, and all Creation is “sustained by Him” Phil. 2:6–11 & Heb.1:1–3.
Jesus said; “I Am the Way, the Truth, and the Life”, John 14:6!
