Question; What does John three verse one mean?
Nicodemus was a member of the Sanhedrin, the religious Ruling group of the Jews, made up of mostly Pharisees!
He visited Jesus by night, as he didn’t want to be seen talking to Him, as it would have ruined his career chances.
In V.2 he acknowledges that Jesus is doing miracles, and requests to know what Jesus meant by “be born again”!
Jesus in the following verses explains that there is a difference between the 1st. birth (flesh); and the 2nd. birth (Spirit).
This explanation has nothing to do with Church teaching and Liturgy; but is between the person and the Holy Spirit of Christ Jesus; after which the person is sealed in Heaven, and despite the best efforts of Satan, cannot be taken away!
When the person dies, or is resurrected; they meet with Christ Jesus for a sorting out of their lives pluses and minuses, 2Cor. 5:10.
